Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline including angels, fiends, and dark forces expanding in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of characters who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear out of place, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to head next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, striking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then settled his debts and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could assist the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Questers and Planners parties.
Audiences can look forward to learning which characters will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
